The Air Jordan 4 (IV) Retro – Black Cat (Black / Black – Light Graphite) feature a simple all black colorway, with a visible air bubble at the heel. They are well known by their plastic mesh located on the side panels and at the bottom of the tongue, along with the notorious style of laceing holes. They came with a poster which featured Michael Jordan’s famous shot over Clevand Cavalier’s Craig Ehlo, which has come to be known as “The Shot”. They were a general release, and sold out easily upon their release.
Air Jordan IV swept the world in 1989. Tingkehate Field designs shoes again. Nike Air Jordan 4 featured many new design concepts.With some exceptions, it became the first Jordan shoe released on the global market. The Air Jordan IV
cushioning sole and design helped to make the shoe an international bestseller.
The Air Jordans 4 featured the air sole heel for dded cushioning and a full length midsole again. Air Jordan Retro 4 was another masterpiece to the Jordan lineup.Spike Lee, the director/actor who helped in the ad campaign for the Air Jordan
III, created the Can/Can't TV commercial. Spike Li Chen's really like this pair of shoes, and personally give them some extra promotion of his film to Do The Right Thing.There is a scene in the film where the character "Buggin Out" (played by
Giancarlo Esposito) angry to face a bicyclist who accidentally bumps into him and scuffs his Air Jordan IV shoes. After the confrontation, Buggin Out immediately use a tooth to clean his shoe on a fire hydrant .
In 1999 the shoes were retroed in a white/black colorway and a black/cement colorway,and stores of Air Jordan IV were sold out within hours of release.
However, when Nike released the first Retro+ of the Air Jordan IV, many fans of the shoe claimed that the company had "destroyed a classic" by removing the nets on the shoe along with making some other subtle changes. For example, the
Jumpman logo took place with "NIKE AIR" logo featured on the back of the shoe .
Nike released several variations of the Air Jordan IV in 2006, including "Mars Blackmons" ("Red" IV's with Spike Lee's alter ego on the heel),"Military Blues", and the $500 "Thunder and Lightning" package. The Mist blue color and all white and
all black were also released.
These special change of the shoe is inspired by the part of the Air Jordan Spiz'ike (the shoe's side-lace strap)and the Nike Yeezy, a shoe designed by Kanye West.
